I am delighted to take the opportunity to inform you of an exciting event in Bensham and Saltwell, scheduled to take place on 17th April 2011, at The Little Theatre, Saltwell View, Gateshead.
In line with the ‘Bensham and Saltwell Alive’ initiative, the event will offer opportunities for individuals and groups of all ages, who live and/or work in Bensham and Saltwell, to demonstrate their Skills, Abilities and Interests.
The Intention of the event is to unlock creativity in Bensham and Saltwell, and to give as many people as possible an opportunity to express themselves in whichever way they wish, either in terms of performance, music, story, or in the background (organisational, support etc.)
The event was originally to be centred around a picnic theme, to take place at the leisure centre, in Hall 1. However, in light of discussions with various groups and likely stakeholders, it was felt that the venue and the theme could become ‘chaotic’. Although the notion of a drop in event for audience is inclusive, the focus may not be strongly enough centred on the performances. The Little Theatre was available on the same day, 17th April, and coincides with the Saltwell Park Festival, hosted by the Gateshead Council Arts Team. Indiscussion with the arts team, it was felt that the two events could compliment one another, rather than clash. There may also be an opportunity for the theatre event to cross over into the event in the Park, subject to consent from the director of the Saltwell Park Festival.
The audience will have the opportunity to see and hear performances / art / singing and music devised by and performed by people of all ages, from all walks of life, but whom live, work, or have a connection within Bensham and Saltwell.

**OPEN INVITATION TO AUDITION**
An open invitation is extended to people from Bensham and Saltwell, who work, play, study or have a connection with the area.
Would you like to take part in a show on Sunday 17th April, at The Little Theatre, Saltwell View??
If so, we are hoping an open event this Saturday at St Chad's Community Project, Liddell Terrace, between 11am and 4pm.
