GATESHEAD Carers Association is running a free course to help carers cope with their roles and responsibilities.

The eight-week Caring with Confidence course runs from Thursday 5 May.

The informal course aims to help carers make a difference to their lives – and the lives of the people, for whom they care.

Sessions will help carers to:
  • Build on their strengths as carers
  • Give carers the chance to share their experiences
  • Help carers to decide what they would like to change about their caring roles
  • Gain useful information, hints and tips on caring for some-one.

The course starts with introductory Finding Your Way sessions on Thursday 5 May and Friday 13 May.

The first full session takes place on Friday 20 May from 11am to 2pm with sessions running until Friday 8 July.

All sessions take place at Gateshead Carers Association, 11 Regent Terrace, Gateshead. NE8 1LU.

Janice Hall, Caring with Confidence Facilitator, said: “Caring with Confidence is part of the Government’s New Deal for Carers initiative, which aims to improve support for carers.

“Since May 2009, more than 450 sessions have been booked on the sessions.”

To book a place on the course, call Janice Hall on (0191) 490 0121 or email Janice.hall@gatesheadcarers.com.
