The main aims and objectives of The Project are to:
a) improve the social welfare and conditions of life for people living within the Gateshead area;
b) to improve employment opportunities of people living within the Gateshead area; and
c) to educate people about the Christian faith and the Christian way of life.
Christ Church Youth and Community Project serves the community by offering venue hire, community group activities and is a registered UK Online Centre to both public and private clients throughout Gateshead. The Project is located in Felling, Gateshead was established in 1997 and has over 13 years of experience.
Christ Church Youth and Community Project has an expanding network of clients, located in the local area, including Gateshead Council, Barnardos, Youth Offending Team, Asylum Seekers, Parent and Toddlers, Men and Youth Groups. The organisation offers a range of on site facilities to local residents, the general public, businesses and local government, which can be intended to meet a variety of needs.
There is a large hall for 100 people with stage area and a fully fitted kitchen which is available for hire. The venue would be suitable for wedding receptions, birthday parties, conferences, meetings or exhibitions. The kitchen is a equipped with a microwave, dishwasher, fridge freezer, double sink, double oven and hob, complete with kitchen utensils.
There is also a computer suite for clients to freely use the internet and office applications. The Project has friendly staff helping clients to feel welcomed and to make the most of the facilities available. The Project is housed in Christ Church Hall, renamed ‘House on the Hill’ that was built in 1909. The building is opposite the Old Police Station, now the Youth Offenders Team offices and next to the old Felling Town Hall that was until recently accommodation for Asylum Seekers now Students.
