Friends of Chopwell Wood (FoCW) was formed in 1991as a voluntary community organisation, to help protect and care for Chopwell Wood. Our aims are to promote and develop the recreational and educational facilities with the Wood, whilst conserving the wildlife and their habitats. We work together with the Forestry Commission providing a opportunity for local people to be involved in the management of the Wood.
We organise a variety of events and conservation tasks each year, with the co-operation of the Forestry Commission. Most of the funding for our events and projects comes from the annual sale of Christmas Trees, which are sold from a site alongside the main car park.
