About Highfield

Highfield is located in the West of Gateshead at the western edge of Rowlands Gill.  It is  mainly a rural area, being surrounded by wide open spaces and woodland as well as a number of green spaces within the neighbourhood itself. There is one small industrial estate in the area and Rowlands Gill is located nearby.
 
Highfield has a population of around 2,421. 48% are male and 52% female. Approximately 27% of the population are young people aged 0-19 and 18% of the population are older people aged 65+.

A rare opportunity to view and perhaps buy some original art by local artist Charlie Rogers.

The exhibition opens on the 6th Sept in the Main House of the Community Centre at 10.00am and coinsides with enrolment week so expect it to be busy!!.

Health Walk & Community Building Sessions

Community Cohesion Get active, Get healthy & Meet new friends-Women Only Sessions. 

Health Walk & Community Building Sessions are delivered by Sport, Physical Activity & Health Department Team, and are led by fully qualified instructors. Sessions focus on basic strengthening and toning exercises and will consist of problem solving and team building activities.

Bensham Grove Community Centre

Generic Community Centre and Adult Learning Centre

Bensham Grove Community Centre can be found in a wonderful Grade ll listed building in the heart of Gateshead. The building has lots of original Arts and Crafts features and is well worth a visit.

Gateshead Muslim Society

Gateshead Muslim Society is committed to meeting the needs of the Muslim and BME communities in Gateshead.

Gateshead Muslim Society offers a huge variety of FREE courses, activities and trips for Men, women and young children within Gateshead. The courses are for anyone and everyone so come along and have some fun, meet people from all walks of life and enjoy yourself as well as learning new skills.

Springwell Tenants and Residents Association

We represent the tenants and residents who live on Springwell Estate and who work in partnership with Gateshead Council and others on their behalf.

 The Springwell Tenants and Residents Association has been going for 30years, everyone who lives on the estate is a member of the association with a group of volunteers who are appointed as the committee to meet with it's partners on their behalf. Any resident can become a part of the committee or become a volunteer who will only help out when their is an event or can offer any skills that they have when the time comes that they are needed.

Centenary of the Building

Whickham Community Centre was built in 1910, so in 2010 it is celebrating its Centenary. A new booklet, produced by Walter Sharp, the Secretary of the Association, has recently been published to celebrate the event.
