Come along to the new Springwell Community Garden to see what fantastic work the Springwell Tenants and Residents Association have been doing with support from Groundwork North East. Funding from Community Spaces, Marks and Spenser and Community Foundation was secured in order to create a new community garden space for local residents.

The eight-week Caring with Confidence course runs from Thursday 5 May.
 
The informal course aims to help carers make a difference to their lives – and the lives of the people, for whom they care.
 
Sessions will help carers to:

Debt Advice Roadshows Tour

The first in a series of public events aimed at helping people who are struggling with their finances will be held in Blaydon this week (7 April).

Experts from Gateshead Council, The Gateshead Housing Company and other agencies will be staging a Debt Advice Roadshow in a mobile exhibition unit at Blaydon Shopping Precinct next Thursday (7 April).

The event will be the first in a series of Roadshows to be held throughout Gateshead over the coming months.

Groundwork North East - Consultation on Pocket Parks

Gateshead Council are working with Groundwork North East to transform two demolition sites on the High Street into ‘pocket parks’. 
 
Pocket Parks are temporary spaces that can be used by the community to relax, get closer to nature or take part in events and activities.
 

Meeting/Training room to rent

Gateshead Carers Association has a meeting/training room to rent to voluntary community sector organisations.
 
The Brenda Miller Room seats 25 people. Light refreshments and the use of a projector/laptop and projection screen are included the price.
 
The room is available from Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm from a cost of £10 per hour.

Gateshead Older People's Assembly Low Fell Branch Meeting

If you live in the Low Fell area, are over 50 and have an interest in your local community then come along and join us on the 2nd Monday of the month at Lyndholme Sheltered Housing Scheme, Beacon Lough Road, Low Fell at 2pm.

Meetings are very informal and provoke discussion amongst the group to highlight issues affecting older people in the Low Fell area.  Frequent topical guest speakers. Refreshments available.

Sport, Well Being and Independence service are currently running a pilot gym scheme for Carers.   200 free gym induction passes have been made available to any Carer who wishes to take up the scheme on first come basis.
